So today was my 5th inventory, and it went pretty well. Seeing as we (that is, me and Cooter) got out of there at quarter to three, it was the easiest one yet. The computer only kicked out a few things, and they were all easy to check. I think we're getting pretty good at this.
In a change from inventories past, I decided to keep busy. During earlier ones I'd usually just sit around and wait for the computer reports, and while the hours dragged by I'd get bored, restless, and violent. By violent I mean that I would have pent up energy that I'd release by doing things like throwing glass bottles at Cooter's head. This time, knowing that if I sat around I'd end up grumbly and tired, I decided to find something to do. First I helped Bob move some racks down to storage, and then I started sweeping up that small storage area. And then I swept our cell out, and then the Mark II cell, and then the corridor leading out the the machine shop, then the hallway going down to the range, then Mergie's area, then Steve's area, then the two corridors headed down to handgun assembly. By the time all that was done it was mid-afternoon and I'd amassed a ginormous pile of dirt and debris. Seriously, that place is filthy.
Next week is shutdown. I'm only working the first four days of the week, once again on Bob's painting crew, and then I'm off to New York for the weekend. The way Bob has it figured, I'm going to be working with him painting the floors, and Cooter is going to be painting walls with some new kid from some other area. That's because Bob likes me and knows how I work ... and he can barely tolerate Cooter. Heh.
Meanwhile, it's the weekend and I have things to do, writing to work on, Flix to watch, and people to avoid. Sounds like a good time.
